Abstract

With the technological and industrial development around the world, the indiscriminate use of chemical substances and the exposure of living beings to natural and anthropogenic contaminants, Toxicology has evolved gradually and in parallel to go from theoretical science to applied science, aided by the various specialties of knowledge, to achieve that through studies and research solutions, specific programs, promulgation of regulations and laws are conceived, with the aim of reducing risks and intoxications at all levels: environmental, occupational, medication, food, snakes, fungi, drugs of abuse and others.

It is vital that the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy, the entity responsible for training health and environmental professionals, take responsibility for contributing to research, detection, prevention, information and advice on causes or possible causes of poisoning caused by chemical substances, animals or plants, through the Toxicological Research Unit, which integrates different areas of study. With the accreditation of this multidisciplinary team working in the different areas of toxicological research, linked by knowledge of the risk to humans, animals and the environment of substances of synthetic or natural origin, the development of research in this field will be contributed. .
